The SkyRunner Challenge 2019
The SkyRunner Challenge 2019 is a fun online challenge for amateur SkyRunners all over the world that like to have some extra boost in their daily running.
The challenge takes place from 1 of April 2019 to 31 of October 2019 online, and covers all three Skyrunning disciplines: SKY, ULTRA and VERTICAL. You can choose any race in the world and our purpose with the challenge is to combine the local onsite experience with the global online experience and to increase the engagement in the SkyRunner community.
Except for continuous inspiration and motivation all season through, the winners will get great exposure in social media and in the blog that will reach SkyRunner’s all over the world.
The challenge are divided into 5 categories:
- Fastest runner
- Rising star
- SkyRunner rookie
- Best Picture
- Best Video
Fastest runner
Fastest runner compared to winner time in percent in any Skyrunner race in the world.
You can choose to compete in any of the three Skyrunning disciplines: SKY, ULTRA and VERTICAL. Male and Female compares their times against male/female winner time.
SKY – Races between 20 and 49 km with 1,300m minimum vertical climb.
SKY/ULTRA – Races between 50 and 99 km with 3,200m minimum vertical climb or maximum finish time must be under 16 hours.
SKY/ULTRA PLUS – Races longer than 100 km with a minimum of 5 000m in vertical climb (this is not an official definition and it is specifically made for this fun competition).
VERTICAL – Uphill races with a minimum average incline of 20% and some sections over 33% with 5 km maximum length.
1:st price: You will be featured in SkyRunner’s Facebook page with race picture, name tag and race name, and you will get your own personal blog article, where you can tell your story and marketing yourself.
2:nd price: You will be featured in SkyRunner’s Facebook page with race picture, name tag and race name.
3:rd price: You will be featured in SkyRunner’s Facebook page with race picture, name tag and race name.
To qualify into this category you can not be slower than winner time times 130%.
We will announce the winner of the month in the beginning of next month and the winner of the season in the first of November.
Rising star
Rising star compared to your own time in percent in any Skyrunner race in the world.
You can compare with the same race or a longer and higher distance race from last year, and you can choose to compete in any of the three Skyrunning disciplines: SKY, ULTRA and VERTICAL.
SKY – Races between 20 and 49 km with 1,300m minimum vertical climb.

SkyRunner rookie
SkyRunner rookie, for first time runners of any Skyrunner race in the world.
This category is only for first time Skyrunner race runners, and we will pick the fastest runner compared to winner’s time. You can choose to compete in any of the three Skyrunning disciplines: SKY, ULTRA and VERTICAL.
You can compare with the same race or a longer and higher distance race from last year, and you can choose to compete in any of the three Skyrunning disciplines: SKY, ULTRA and VERTICAL. Male and Female compete separate.

Reporting of results
Reporting of your race results, pictures and videos takes place in the SkyRunner Adventurers Facebook group.
Follow the steps:
- Apply for membership in SkyRunner Adventurers.
- Sign up for the challenge by attending the event SkyRunner Challange 2019.
- Report your result continuously (from 1 of April 2019 to 31 of October 2019) in a simple post in the group feed of SkyRunner Adventurers.
- Upload a race picture of yourself
- Add your name
- Add your e-mail
- Add race name and date
- Add (male/female)
- Add category (Fastest runner, Rising star, SkyRunner rookie)
- Add race discipline (SKY, ULTRA, VERTICAL)
- Add your time
- Add winner time
- Add your time last year (if you have that)
- Add a link to race results (or attach a screenshot)

Announcement of the winners
Announcement of the winners of the month will take place in the beginning of the next month in the SkyRunner Adventurers Facebook group (the first announcement of Aprils’s winners will take place in the beginning of May).
Announcement of the winners of the season will take place on 1 November 2019, 9:00 – 9:30 in the SkyRunner Adventurers Facebook group.
